Making Outlook play nice with security patch
There is a patch for Outlook 98 and 2000 know as the "Outlook E-mail Security Update", it basically breaks functionality for home users that don't have an Exchange Server to configure :). The bright side however is that you can modify the "outllib.dll" to regain functionality to your taste. By removing the blocked extensions from the file with a hex editor, being careful to fill in the parts you delete with other bogus information so the file size is the same. Also make sure you don't change the time and date on the file.Close to the end of the file you will find the list of blocked extensions after "DefaultIcon", just change the extensions you want to keep to "!@#" and your in business. Example: change "exe" and "url" to "!@#", etc.
